bonfire.notanother.pizza
A community platform for community organisers, hosted by us and run on Bonfire — open source, federated software built for groups rather than for follower counts.
We run it as shared infrastructure rather than a single-community server: any community we work with can have a space of its own on the instance, keep its own members and moderation, and still reach everyone else across the fediverse. No ads, no algorithm deciding who sees your event announcement, and no platform to lose your community to.
It’s early days. We’re settling registration and moderation before opening the doors wider, so if you organise a community and want a space on it, come and say hello on Discord.
Blogging Workshop
Writing blogs can be beneficial to technical careers and is a great way to learn new things and get better at writing, but where to start?
This workshop covers the why, what, and how of writing blogs: digging into the benefits of blogging, how to find topics to write about, tips for the writing process, and how to get your work out there.
Participants will leave with an outline of a blog that could be used to create a draft of their first blog. Participants will also get first-hand experience of creating a blog using Markdown and Jekyll, and will raise a pull request to contribute their work to a shared repository.
